Asif A. Chowdhury to lead JBCCI President for 2020-2022

Asif A. Chowdhury, CEO & Managing Director of CHOWDHURY GROUP has been elected as President of Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JBCCI) for the year 2020-2022.

Besides, Mr. Md. Shariful Alam, Mr. M. Jalalul Hai has been elected as the Vice President, Mr. Takeshi Hashimoto as Treasurer and Mr. Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun) has been re-elected as Secretary General for the term 2020-2022, said a press release.

The newly elected directors are Mr. Yuji Ando, Mr. Tadaoki Watanabe, Mr. Takashi Miyata, Mr. Tetsuro Kano, Mr. Nurul Wahab, Mr. Syed Samiul Huq and Dr. Kabir Ahmed.

The new Board of Directors took over charge on 14th March 2021 while the election was held on 22nd February 2021.

The newly elected President of JBCCI Mr. Asif A. Chowdhury, in his wide range of business career, heads several segments of CHOWDHURY GROUP, a renowned local conglomerate diversifying from Shipping/Logistics services, Stock Brokering, Plastic products manufacturing, Zipper/Fastener manufacturing, Hotels & Resorts etc.

He is also the Honorary Consul for Chile in Bangladesh. In recognition of his enormous contribution Mr. Asif A. Chowdhury was bestowed with highest Chilean civil distinction award of Bernard O’ Higgins by the President of the Republic of Chile in 2013.

He remains engaged with JBCCI since its inception and served as Vice President and Director in the past to contribute to the bilateral trade development, upon completion of his higher education from USA.

In the diverse career of Mr. Chowdhury, he also served as the President of Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DBCCI), President of Consular Corps in Bangladesh (CCB), Director of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI). He is also serving as the elected Director of World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) based in Belgium since 2016.
